Open to all registered teachers and parents, this two-hour meet-up will include short presentations on Researching Countries and Topics as well as writing Position Papers. There will be opportunities for Q & A with MMUN Staff, and also time for discussions with colleagues in smaller groups.

MMUN Delegate Community Meet-ups

Open to all registered MMUN student participants, these one-hour meet-ups divided by UE and MS, offer a chance for students to get to know each other in an informal way during the months preceding the culminating conference events. During each meet-up, delegates will participate in fun games, activities, and informal discussions geared toward connecting them with peers outside of their own communities with an MMUN spin.

MMUN Student Working Sessions  

Live 3.5 hour working sessions where students address current hot topics facing the world’s youth today by applying committee procedures to facilitate consensus building. (No independent work is required in advance.) Each session will focus on creating a short resolution by consensus. For these sessions, delegates will represent their personal perspectives on the issue at hand, and work to create agreeable solutions for everyone. The students will choose an NGO of their choice, real or self-created, which they will represent during the session.

Friday November 6th
COVID-19 and Misinformation
11 am – 2:30 pm ET

A Live 3.5-hour working session open to all registered students where MMUN’s new negotiation procedures will be used to address COVID-19 and Misinformation from a youth perspective. Delegates will represent their personal impressions and opinions related to COVID-19 and Misinformation. Each student will act as a representative of an NGO, real or self-created, during the session. Students will be asked to create an NGO name prior to the session and MMUN will provide background readings on the topics to be discussed.

Friday December 11th
Student Mental Health 
11 am – 2:30 pm ET

A Live 3.5-hour working session where students will learn about MMUN’s new negotiation procedures while addressing Student Mental Health. Delegates will represent their personal perspectives and opinions on Student Mental Health. 

In an effort to keep the committee sessions formal, we are asking students to use an imaginary NGO or non-profit organization rather than their own name during the session. They will be called upon by that name (just as during a conference they would be addressed by their country name). Identifying a student as an imaginary organization is a simple way to support the formality of the committee procedures, rather than addressing students by their own names which can be less formal and distract from the process. Students are able to create any name for their organization, but preferably one that expresses their position on the topic. Some examples of names are Student Health First, Youth in Media, or Hands Across the World. 

An NGO or non-governmental organization (NGO) is a non-profit entity that functions independently of any government. NGOs, sometimes called civil societies, are organized on the community, national or international levels to serve a social or political goal such as humanitarian or environmental issues.

Students must have an organizational name prepared in advance of the meeting.

MMUN will be sending out materials for the working sessions as soon as we receive your registration, but no zoom link will be sent at that time. The zoom links will be sent out 24 hours before the session, to ensure that we can place everyone into appropriate groupings. Please do not worry if you have not received the zoom link when you receive the other materials. We will ensure that everyone receives the link the day prior to the meet-up.

MMUN recommends that each student uses their own computer to participate in the working session. Students may share a computer if necessary, but in this case, they will need to represent only one NGO and work together throughout the session.

How Do We Create Inclusive Classrooms
11 am – 2:30 pm ET
