Dear Colleagues,
We have been in communication with many of our partner schools and have been witnessing the mounting challenges educators are facing at this moment. We extend our solidarity to our community during this pandemic.
MMUN believes that the best solution possible is a direct postponement for all Chicago and Rome participants to 2021 dates. This solution represents our shared values: to honor work of the delegates, to respect the guidance of the Teacher Coordinators, and to return the trust and investment of the parents and schools.
We are working very hard to craft a viable postponement path while managing expenses which have been incurred and cannot be recovered and navigating the enormous ripple effect that COVID-19 is having on all our business partners. In response, we are designing significant austerity measures for our operations to help offset the economic reality of the cancelled conferences. We are leveraging all the possible resources and creativity to offer this option, which reflects our commitment to the MMUN community. Based upon our preliminary analysis and discussions with suppliers, the partial reimbursement for the cancellation will not only be disappointing, it will deprive the delegates of the inimitable onsite MMUN experience. One thing of which we are sure is that for such a postponement to work for the benefit of all, it will require the entire community’s support and a show of solidarity despite the complications that will surely arise in the implementation of such an approach.
We ask for your patience as we continue to work with the venues, suppliers and attorneys to understand the configuration, process, and specifics of a postponement. Please keep in mind that participation in the MMUN Online Conferences will not affect your school’s postponement or refund options later. We think this online intermediary option offers a great opportunity for students to engage during this unprecedented global crisis. Please see MMUN Online Conferences Infographic here.
MMUN stands with our community in this difficult situation and hope that our 15 year history speaks to our integrity and full commitment to you. We share the eagerness for delegates, families and schools to fully understand the options.
We will be in communication by April 10th with further updates.
